Throughout the Christmas Countdown, I will give you ideas of how to use each page of your planner to its full ability. There will be budgeting ideas, gift guides, Christmas food ideas. Places to buy handmade cards and Christmas gift ideas. Ideas to make Christmas amazingly magical for your kids (or big kids!!). You name it, I’ve got it covered.
When I started really planning my Christmas’. Like I mean really planning. Setting budgets, timescales and trying to underspend on my panned budgets. I was a student at University. It was my first time living away from home (on student loans) with my boyfriend at the time.
Money was tight. When I say money was tight, I mean that my mum used to literally send me home with bags of food because we often didn’t have the money to properly feed ourselves. This meant that Christmas was going to be tight.
Anyone that knows me, knows that I am a Christmas fanatic. It’s not about the receiving gifts (although it’s always nice) it is about seeing peoples faces light up when they unwrap the gift you’ve bought them. It’s also when the whole dinner table falls silent as they devour the Christmas dinner you’ve cooked them.
Using the Christmas planner for preparation is essential.
I used a spreadsheet to list everyone we were buying gifts for. I then set maximum amounts that we would spend on each person. For us, this dictated how often we had to buy gifts and when we had to start.
We sometimes only had £5-£10 a week spare, so if it meant buying two people who were allocated a £5 budget. That is what we did.
This is quite an extreme example of budgeting. I think I started in September to ensure that Christmas was as amazing as it could be. By using my strict method I was able to have all my gifts bought (and wrapped) by the beginning of December.
I don’t think I managed to underspend on this particular year, but because we had managed to finish early. It meant we could still enjoy ourselves slightly throughout December, with the little money we had.
There are 20 different pages to help you plan your ultimate Christmas holiday. I have included a couple of sneak peeks at some of the pages. This is so that you can decide if it’s for you. If you don’t want to use your coloured ink, I suggest printing them in greyscale, as this is lighter than black and white.
I also have included some blank pages for certain lists, so that you can print off as many as you need. Each page is obviously available to print as many times as you need it though.

In 2019, I decided that the Ultimate Christmas Planner needed a little bit of a tweak from the year it launched. I received some amazing feedback from some of my readers last year that could make this even better.
- I have now added in links to certain pages that are at the top of the page. These will direct you for a little inspo or help on your Christmas planning journey.
- I made the planner waaaay more printer-friendly with less colour, but the same fun design.
- And of course, I have updated all the dates on the calendar pages for this year.
