Really Whittle Down your Gift Buying List
Do you really need to buy for your cousin’s children that you only see twice a year? Probably not. If you are trying to save money this Christmas, then whittle down your gift buying list to the minimum and to the most important people to you.
Check Out the Sales
This is an awesome trick that you can use throughout the entire year! When it’s sale time in the shops it’s the perfect time for you to scour the sale items and I guarantee that you will find some gems with a tasty discount attached.
Amazon Prime
Amazon offers some amazing deals across its site with Prime! I have found a great way that you can get amazing deals as well as free next day delivery, and, you guessed it. A way to save some more money! It’s not going to cost you anything extra either to sign up. Just sign up for the Amazon Prime FREE 30-day trial for the Christmas period. Christmas sorted!
Black Friday and Cyber Monday
Another great gift that the Christmas period gives us is black Friday and Cyber Monday. There is no need to hit the shops at this time if that fills you with dread as it does with me. You can do it all online, and Amazon has incredible discounts at this time of the year, and even better if you have Prime because you can get exclusive extras as well!
Homemade gifts + cards
This is something I personally LOVE doing. Making your own cards doesn’t have to be expensive or time-consuming either. I’ve written a post to help you out. Handmade Gifts are always a nice touch and can save you heaps of money because you can make edible gifts in bulk and you can also make other gifts tailored to the individual.

Secret Santa
The idea of a Secret Santa is to save money while making sure that everyone has a gift that is set within a budget. So why not try this with your friends or with work colleagues this year. It means you only have to buy one gift and the budget you set means that you know exactly how much you are going to spend.
Buy second hand
Most of the time, second-hand items are as good as new. This also helps you be a bit more eco-friendly, save money and help someone else out by buying one of their unwanted items. I agree, that only some items are ok second-hand, so why not start looking through charity shops and websites such as eBay?
Make your own decorations
This can be as fun as you want to make it. You could decide you are going to bake all of your decorations or get your kids to help you make them. Whatever it is, it can help you save some money, as you will probably find that you have everything you already need stashed away at home somewhere, especially, if you are a bit of a crazy craft lady like me!
Homemade wrapping paper
This is something I am going to try this year. Great to get the kids to help with as well! Let them go crazy with the glitter and paint, stamps and stickers. All you need really is a roll of plain lining paper and some festive paint/glitter and you’re well on your way! Take a look at what Vannessa did on tried and true.
