10 Homemade Christmas Decoration Ideas
Paper chains
Easy to make from scraps of paper or wrapping paper. You can also buy paperchain kits with a gummed underside for easy sticking. These are some very festive paper chain designs!
Snowflakes
A great and simple decoration that you can make with your kids. You can then hang them up from anywhere you feel needs a little more Christmas cheer.
Salt dough
Salt dough is great because you generally have all the ingredients that you need already in your cupboard. Louise from Messy Little Monster has some cool ideas for hanging decorations made out of salt dough. Your kids can decorate them afterwards, or you can,
Air drying clay
An alternative to the salt dough is air drying clay. You can use this if you want a better finish and a more professional look to your decorations. You will also find that these types of decorations will last a little longer than salt dough. Although you will have to buy a pack of air-drying clay, it is pretty cheap for the amount you will actually end up using and as long as you wrap it up again in clingfilm, it should be good for another use afterwards.
Snow globes

Cinnamon decorations
You can use cinnamon sticks to make a variety of decorations. This includes wreaths, garlands and hanging ornaments. You can also make a cinnamon dough, this could make gingerbread men hanging ornaments like these ones here.
Gingerbread decorations
A nice alternative to candy canes or Christmas tree chocolates. Kids are sure to love baking, icing and especially EATING these Christmas tree decorations.
