Are you struggling to find the time to run your blog mama? Are you wondering how to find time to write? I hear ya!
I was, and sometimes still am in that very position. Being a mum of two is difficult, there is always someone wanting your time for something. So trust me, I know exactly how you feel.
It wasn’t until I started to create a routine for me and my two kiddos that I started to regularly get some work done. It didn’t happen as quickly as I wanted it to, but I was getting things done, and now I’ve never been so productive.
I manage to cover all aspect of my business throughout the week. This includes social media, emails and working behind the scenes on the blog. I know, it sounds impossible, but it really really isn’t if you try and follow a simple rule.
How to Find Time to Write for your Blog
(and everything else you need to do as well!)
This is how to find time to write, design, promote and email all while looking after your children, and anything else you need to do.
Theme your days.
That’s right, have a theme for each of your days, this way, you know exactly what you are doing on each and every day. It also means that you won’t flit between different aspects of your business and start everything, but finish nothing.
Let me take you through my week and how I plan around my children and everyday life.
How to Find Time to Write as a Mum Blogger.
Monday- Instagram
This is the day that I focus on my Instagram account for the week. I use a scheduling tool called Buffer to schedule my posts for the times that my followers are most active. I upload my images, write the caption and schedule on the desktop version. This can usually be done in the morning as my two kiddos seem at their most happy and chilled at that time.
I then switch to the Buffer app on my phone to add the #’s, because you cannot schedule them to a specific time from the app this need to be done first on the desktop version. I also use an app called Hashtag to keep saved lists of all the different #’s I use. Then I simply copy and paste into the buffer app.
Monday is also the day that I prepare any images I want to schedule, this can include taking the photographs and editing them. I usually do this for the next seven days, although sometimes it’s longer depending on how many images I have.
Tuesday- Odd Jobs
This is a slower day for me as I have both children at home all day. It’s usually our day for going out and getting things done. For this reason, I will go through my draft posts and add notes, research keywords and possibly add some headings in preparation to start writing them. I may also plan out some content ideas for the next month in my planner/ make a record of my income and traffic from the past month. If I have a new cheatsheet or workbook in the works, I sometimes add a little bit to this too. This day is mainly odd jobs that don’t need a lot of concentration or big blocks of time to sit down and do.

Wednesday- Writing
I spend the afternoon writing as my oldest is at nursery. If my next months content is already written, then I create images for Pinterest for those pins and writing keyword-rich descriptions for them. I try and aim for one image for each of the posts I have written. If I have time, I also add them as drafts to my Tailwind account.
Thursday- Finish Odd Jobs
Thursday is much like Tuesday, it’s another odd job day. I get done on Thursdays, anything I didn’t manage to on Tuesday. By the end of these two days, all my odd bits are done. If I have any more time that day, I might start drafting my monthly newsletter or carrying on with a new product I’m developing.
Friday- Writing + Pinning
Another afternoon writing, because my oldest goes to nursery again, so I can easily fit some writing in around naptimes of my youngest. Having this dedicated time helps me get ahead with my content, which also helps me keep my stress levels down. I might start sending some pins from the group boards I’m part of over to Tailwind ready to schedule. I try to split my pinning up, so I don’t go out of my mind. Having the Tailwind App makes pinning easy to do in the evening for 5 minutes in advert breaks.

Saturday- Writing + Pinning
I really really try not to do any work on a Saturday and have it as a family day. If I do get a small chance to do a bit of work, then I will write. Pinning is saved for the evening on my phone, and I might only do an hour at most.
Sunday- Pinning + Scheduling
95% of the time I am up first with the kids. I will let them chill out and watch TV, while I finish off pinning and then scheduling. I know it seems like I really drag it out, but I do a little bit every day so I can still have a decent amount of time with my family throughout the week.

There are obviously going to be times when you need your blogging schedule to be more flexible. I always try to get the bare minimum completed if I know I won’t be in all day or someones sick. Don’t think that your schedule is set in stone. If you miss a day, your blog is NOT going to crumble. So don’t stress mama!
Start small and block out 30 minutes a day (during nap time is ideal!). This means you still have time to play with your little ones, laundry, lunches, dinners and whatever else you may have to do that day. Importantly though it enables you to have a block of time dedicated to doing something that you love and that is for you.
