Keep a Routine
Do you ever find that if your routine is mucked around, then your whole day feels off? You almost feel as though you have forgotten something or you’re not sure what you are meant to be doing? Yea, me too. Keeping a routine can be crucial on how to beat depression and anxiety.
Knowing that you are going to do a certain thing at a certain time helps to keep your brain in order. For example, if you know you are going to go for a walk at 2:30 pm every day, then everything else gets planned around this. Human brains also love routine by nature so it’s a great way to keep your mental health in check.
Find a Hobby
Learning something new is fun, especially when you have extra time in the week to do so. By finding a new hobby and something you enjoy, you also keep your brain occupied which in turn means you won’t have as many negative thoughts or worries. Plus your learning something new, having fun and the time will literally fly by! Make sure to find time each day for your new hobby or activity and keep that as part of your routine.
See where we are going with this?
Not into hobby stuff? Why not grab yourself an activity book like this one? It keeps your mind busy as well as keeping your brain active.

Get Outside
As I mentioned before schedule those daily walks! Being outside gives you a boost in vitamin D and helps to lessen the feeling of depression and anxiety. The fresh air, sunlight and physical exercise are all it takes some days to boost your mood. Why not download a podcast to listen too on your walk, or an audiobook to add something new to your daily exercise?
So, again make sure you schedule this in. Do it at the same time every day you don’t have to walk the same route each day, but getting outside is key. Remember, a routine is key.

Give yourself some love, in any way that makes you feel good about, you! This could include watching your favourite movie with popcorn, using a facemask, painting your nails, having a bubble bath or working out. Whatever makes you feel good, make sure you do it, and regularly. When your feeling low you need to give yourself a reason to love yourself.
Have Quiet Time
I know, that when my anxiety gets bad, I need some alone time. You will find that it will just allow your brain to decompress for a while, and process all the madness that is going on in it. You can do this by meditating, reading a book or just sitting with your eyes closed while you’re on the sofa. This will let the noise filter out of your head and leave you prepared for the madness of the rest of the day.
