This is a post that I have wanted to write since I began blogging. I have always thought it was important for my readers to know more about me, I just didn’t have the confidence to write it in the fear that no one would ever want to read things about me.
Revealing some of these things about me is all part of the ‘start new’ theme on the blog for January. I think that revealing some things about me might inspire you to embrace some of your quirks because some of the things about me I reveal are a bit odd, but oh well! why keep them hidden anymore!?
1. Are you named after anyone?
My first name (Ema-Rae) is half named after my great-grandma. Apparently, my parents couldn’t agree on the Ema part of my name so they had to compromise. My mum wanted a foreign name, whereas my dad wanted a ‘proper’ English name. So they went with the Spanish spelling of Emma.
2. Do you have kids? If no, how many do you want?
I do! As of October, I now have two. A new baby girl and a cheeky toddler boy.
3. If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?
I would, although I also know what I am like. I am notoriously bad for staying in contact with people. So if I were to be my own friend, I would expect to not hear from me for like 6 months at a time.
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
It is pretty much the only form of humour that I know. Luckily my other half Nick is just as bad as I am! They say that sarcasm is the lowest form of humour, well I’m sorry, but it is all I know!!
5. What’s the first thing you notice about people?
This is actually a really tough one because it depends on the person and what they are doing at the time. It is probably how they interact with other people and how confident they are in doing so.
6. What is your eye colour?
Blue, although sometimes they look a little dark and greyish on a dreary day.
7. Scary movie or happy endings?
I HATE scary films. Seriously, I couldn’t even watch ‘Scary Movie’, you know, the spoof…I do love a happy ending, butI’m a sucker for a film I can have a good cry at.
8. Favourite smells?
The smell of freshly cut grass and hot concrete just after it’s rained. I know that last one sounds weird, but it really takes me back to when I was a kid in summer and everyone used to go out to play. I just love it.
9. What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from home?
I went to New York on a school drama trip for 4 days. It was the most amazing trip. I absolutely loved it, broadway, times square, the empire state building and having bagels for breakfast. All a bit touristy and cliche, but I think its the sort of thing you have to do when you’re in a city like that.
10. Do you have any special talents?
Errrrrrrrm…..I can move one toe on its own to make it look like it’s waving…..this needs no more explanation. Moving on.
11. Where were you born?
Maldon, Essex, UK. When I lived there I hated it. Now I don’t live there I love it. It’s a relatively big town (sort of) with a small-town mindset. I really recommend going for the day.
12. What’s your zodiac sign? Do you believe it?
Taurus and yes I do believe in it. I probably use it a little too often, you know, the stubbornness aspect of it…
13. What are your hobbies?
Honestly, my blog is still sort of a hobby and I absolutely love doing it. Very aspect! My other hobby is drawing, although I don’t get much time to sit and do that anymore.
14. Do you have any pets?
No, although I’m going to slowly work Nick around to letting us get a Great Dane puppy soon….in my dreams maybe?
15. Do you have any siblings?
I do. I have two brothers and a sister. My youngest brother has just started his apprenticeship, my sister has just started her first year at the Royal Veterinary College in London and my older of the two brothers has moved to Carlise with his boyfriend. I miss them all very much, but I am also super proud of all three of them for doing something out of their comfort zones.
16. What do you want to be when you grow up?
I have no idea. I am a fully trained teacher by trade, so I would like a chance to go back to teaching at some point, but I also love to blog. So who knows?!

17. Who was your first best friend?
My first best friends were two boys who I still consider my older brothers. I know they would always be there for me if I ever needed it as I have tried to be for them. Sadly we don’t talk or see each other much these days. One moved to Dubai for work and the other is in the police force. I love them both so much but miss them dearly.
18. How tall are you?
5ft 4….and a half. That half makes all the difference you know.
19. What is the least favourite thing about yourself?
How socially awkward I am and coming out with random stuff that then makes me look like even more of a weirdo.
20. How many countries have you visited?
7? I think, I have been very lucky as I was growing up my grandparents used to take me holidays each year. I want to see more of the UK though as I haven’t really explored it fully.
21. What was your favourite/worst subject in School?
My favourite subject was art, I used to spend all my spare time in the art room. My least favourite was maths, purely because I was rubbish at it.

34. Do you consider yourself a good cook?
I used to be, then when I had children it all changed, my brain is just mush the whole time. Luckily Nick is very good.
35. If money were no object what would you get for your next birthday?
A house with no mortgage
36. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?

Leftover pizza haha!
38. What’s your favourite gadget?
My Apple Pencil for sure!
Those are 38 things about me, that not everybody knows. Knowing that I have finally written the post I was originally too scared to write feels good. I’ve revealed some weird things about me….no, we don’t need to talk about the toe thing. We all have weird quirks, but I’m learning to embrace mine…slowly.
Now it’s over to you, you know some things about me, so let me know something about you! Are you starting anything new this year?
